The Franklin County Animal Response Team is seeking volunteers to help plan for and assist in emergencies affecting animals. The Franklin County Animal Response Team is a local volunteer network of interested citizens, animal professionals, emergency response agencies, humane organizations, animal industry, and the local business community. It is also part of the Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team which coordinates efforts between several governmental, corporate, and private entities dedicated to the preparation, planning, response, and recovery of animal emergencies in Pennsylvania. The state team's mission is to develop and implement procedures and train participants to facilitate a safe, environmentally sound and efficient response to animal emergencies on the local, county, state, and federal level.

If you are interested in animal response, and helping not only animals, but their owners as well in times of emergency, then this is the program for you. The Franklin County Animal Response Team on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office (717/263-9226) which is located at 181 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg.
